The title is from the Peterson farm brothers’ spoof “Bale”, which I’ve been humming all afternoon while I raked hay.

First you cut it, then it has to dry, then you can rake it and store it. (You rake faster when there’s lots of rain coming in the next few days!) Most people bale it tightly for storage.

The Peterson brothers have a much bigger farm and much bigger haying equipment than I do (and some really funny music videos)! But mine works for what I have, which was an unexpectedly successful haying attempt… leading, obviously, to, “Ummm, where am I going to put it all?”

Thank goodness for staple guns and leftover silt fencing!

Yummy hay, dry and tucked away for winter. Very satisfying (and itchy) couple of days of work!
